Once again we collaborated with our long-term partner, the Austrian-based design agency Norden, on a project for the tourist board of the world-famous Austrian Ötztal region. In particular, for the most prominent resort town within the Ötztal valley — Sölden.
Variable Title Font for Impact
The project involved a modification of TypeTogether’s Adelle Sans that has been in use in Sölden’s branding for a few years already. Their target group are young, active, and adventerous people who love sports, so the typography needed to reflect this vibrancy and dynamic activity.
Norden proposed the font to include stretched letters (capitals only) as a headline font complimentary to Adelle Sans in body copy. We created a variable font with two extreme points going from the extra-extended capitals to the regular width. The branding uses the variable font in motion graphics and thus creates a fluid and dynamic feel.
