Usually people hire me out for a typographic style as well as video and photo assets. However, TypeTogether’s international team had already come together to determine the theme and vibe for the Bree expansion. So I was happy to take a backseat and honor their hard work. I hope I did them justice!
During the design and composition phases, Belarius was a life-saver in many ways: for enhancing the readability of my full-column serifs; manipulating the widths for my narrow justified columns of sans; managing the weight shifts of the book’s very long captions; and finally, finessing the minute details of the cover type.
Type quality is invisible when it’s good, and painfully obvious when it’s bad. A good font doesn’t shout; it whispers clarity.
