We’re passionate about providing accessible and fair licensing options for everyone. We get that licensing can be a bit tricky, so we’ve made it easier by breaking ours into three simple cateogries.
Base Licenses
TypeTogether offers different kinds of licenses. The most common ones are described below. As it is possible with fonts, licenses can be tailored to the customer’s specific needs. If you are unsure about licensing or require a tailored license please do not hesitate to contact us.
Desktop License
Fonts are provided in OpenType format (OTF and TTF).
Smallest license allows the installation of font software for a single user. Multi-user discounts are available.
You can embed the fonts in PDF files for non-commercial use.
You can use the fonts to design printed and digital pieces.
Font can be sent to a print bureau for production of design pieces.Web License
TypeTogether provides webfonts for selfhosting only, but we part- ner with other webfont service providers.
Fonts are provided in optimized for screen rendering.
Fonts are provided in WOFF2 format.
Webfont licenses are priced according to the website traffic.
Retail webfont licenses are sold on perpetual basis.App License
Fonts are provided in OpenType format (OTF or TTF).
Read-only embedding in a single application on unlimited platforms. Multi-app & editable licenses are available too.
Each license allows for up to 25 000 annual syncs.
One license is good for the lifetime of the product.
One license is good for one ebook title.
Specialist Licenses
Most of the common uses of our typefaces are covered with one of the three licensing models described above. However, we do require additional licensing in those cases where our typefaces become a significant part of a commercial product or enterprise.
Editable Software Embedding
Fonts are used in a software product, which allows the end user to interact with the fonts, e.g. in a search field or other user-editable dynamic text.
Commercial Template Licensing
Fonts to be embedded in a software or web application, that can be used as an option for customizing an end product, e.g. business cards, t-shirts, etc...
Commercial OEM License
License to include the fonts in any commercial products, whether software or hardware, of a company or organization.
Broadcasting License
Fonts to be included prominently within a feature film, video on demand platforms, or as a part of a TV program identity, or motion graphics for online deployment.
Merchandising License
Use letters and illustrations embodied in the font files on products for sale such as clothing, bags, and other merchandising.
Trial & Educational Licenses
We understand that choosing the right typeface often requires testing it in real-world design situations, so this license allows the use of our fonts in concepts, mock-ups, pitches, and internal presentations. We are happy to support typography education by allowing students to use our fonts free of charge for academic coursework and student projects.
Standard Testing License
Fonts have a limited character-set.
Intended exclusively for internal testing and evaluation purposes.
Free of charge and does not constitute a commercial license.
Fonts may be tested on websites and internal servers solely for evaluation and performance testing.
Trial licenses are non-exclusive and non-transferable.
A commercial license must be obtained before any production or public use of the fonts.Premier Testing License
This extended temporary license is for Premier users in particular. Apply for Premier access here.
Fonts include the full character-set.
