The Barcelona-based multidisciplinary studio OnionLab collaborated with External Reference to create the exhibition journey at the Spanish Spain Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020, coordinated by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E). Adelle Sans Latin and Arabic bring the content to life on all exhibition panels and interactive screens.
The Spanish Pavilion puts emphasis on sustainability and collective intelligence. Under the slogan “Intelligence for life”, several interactive and educational areas touching on art, design, and technology have been created.
On the ground level are a series of open places with informative panels and installations showing relevant moments of Spanish culture. The exhibition highlights some historical links between Spain’s relationship with Arab culture, such as the legacy of chess.
The exhibition also includes a 3D-printed artificial forest, called El Bosque de la Inteligencia (The Forest of Intelligence), a metaphorical space that illustrates Spanish innovative contributions to the protection and sustainable use of natural resources. Visitors discover the initiatives amongst others via animated graphics, holograms, and audiovisual pieces.
All the texts on the exhibition panels, installations, and interactive screens are set using Adelle Sans in English and Spanish, combined with Adelle Sans Arabic.
Whether large or small, printed, digital, or video, Adelle Sans was made for this scenario: as a flexible and personable world-ready font family, providing true multilingual font support.
